Christian Bilcheck

Christian Bilcheck is a former electric utility executive with more than 35 years of leadership experience in transmission and distribution planning, system operations, asset management, grid modernization, and distributed energy resource integration. As an independent advisor, he draws on deep utility operating experience to help grid technology companies articulate their value to utilities and accelerate the path from promising innovation to successful deployment.

During his utility career, Bilcheck held executive roles at AVANGRID and The United Illuminating Company, including Vice President of Asset Management & Planning and Vice President of Smart Grids Innovation & Planning. He led organizations responsible for transmission and distribution planning, capital investment, grid resilience, distributed generation interconnection, and utility innovation, and has provided expert testimony in regulatory proceedings involving DERs, energy storage, and interconnection.

Today, Bilcheck is the Founder of Breakthrough Innovations LLC, advising grid technology companies, clean energy developers, and industry organizations on utility strategy, product commercialization, and market adoption.

He holds an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Fairfield University.
